Telehealth and Phone Consult

What to expect from a telehealth or phone consult with your Dietitian

As the COVID-19 restrictions remain in place regarding social distancing and self-isolation, concerns about having access to healthcare services may be causing some level of anxiety or stress. However, you need not worry! Dietitian Megan Hardy is providing virtual consultations via phone or telehealth (video) so that you can still receive the support you need from the comfort of your own home.

So, what exactly does a telehealth or phone appointment look like?

A phone or video appointment with your dietitian will essentially run the same way as a face to face appointment. However, if we require measurements such as your weight or height we request tht you provide these.

Are telehealth consults safe?

We understand that you may be concerned about the safety and confidentiality of your session. You can rest assured that the video platform we use during your appointment is secure and your information will remain private.

What will the cost be?

If you have been referred under a chronic disease management plan from your GP then your appointment will be fully covered by Medicare as we are currently bulk billing all standard care plans*. If you are coming in privately, then private fees will apply. Please visit  http://hardynutrition.com.au/fees-perth-dietitian.html  for more information on fees.

*If you require an extended consult for conditions such as food intolerances, eating disorders or coeliac disease you will be charged a small gap for your consult depending on the reason for referral. Please contact us if you have any questions.

What to do before and during your appointment?

Prior to your appointment you will receive a text message with a link to complete an online admission form. If you are having a phone consult, your dietitian will call you at your appointment time. If you are having a telehealth consult you will receive another link with a code to log in to Kalix (our video platform). We ask that you find a quiet space during your appointment and if possible, access to a computer so that your dietitian can share resources with you during the session.

Please note your dietitian may be running late and may call you later than the start time. Only contact the clinic if you can no longer complete your appointment.
